SCREEN TIME

Statistics show that most children spend between 4 to 6 hours in front of a

screen daily. Experts recommend that children get no more than 1 to 2 hours

of “screen” time including tv and video games each day.

Good morning this is your Parenting Moment brought to you by Legacy

Academy for Children.

Most parents recognize that their child needs to spend less time in front of a

screen. But, we all dread the screaming, yelling and crying that may follow

our direction to find something else to do.

Parenting is a hard job and part of that job is to set limits for children. So,

know matter how hard, limit screen time.

Here are some tips that may help: be prepared to offer alternative activities to

your child; consider a family game night; get physical with your child by

walking or shooting hoops; walk the dog; explore the park; have your child

read to you.

Take the TV out of all of the bedrooms; make an advance plan to watch a

movie on the screen together; and don’t use the screen as a reward or

punishment. Also, limit your own screen time, practice what you preach.

That’s your Legacy Academy Parenting Moment. Let Legacy Academy offer

your little legacy some alternatives to the “screen”. Visit us at Legacy
